Here's What Online Dollar Store Makeup Looks Like IRL
Makeup trends are constantly changing, which makes buying that $21 metallic lip gloss or $15 makeup tool a little intimidating. Thankfully, there's a way to stay on-trend and save money all at the same time. Miss A is an online dollar store that carries everything from beauty tools to cosmetics. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, I tried out some of their trendiest products, and it turns out that this brand is legit.
When I first heard that there was a website selling $1 beauty products, I didn't know what to believe. On one hand, higher end products do often carry more staying power and pigmentation. On the other hand, affordable brands like ColourPop and Essence Cosmetics have proven to me that price tag and quality don't always go hand-in-hand. So I gave it a try, and it turns out that this brand is pretty great.
The Miss A website has pretty much every affordable beauty tool and makeup item that you could possibly need. They have trendy items, like makeup sponge holders and silicone sponges, and staples, like liquid lipsticks and concealers. Whether you're a beginner wanting to stock up your collection or a seasoned pro looking to try a trend before you fully commit, this website has something for you. While not everything on the website is $1, everything is still super affordable.
To test out the products, I did what any other beauty guru would do — put them on my face for a day. Although I didn't have everything that I needed for a full face of makeup, I had enough to give me a good feel for the brand. I even tried out three different lip looks throughout the day. The first was a classic look, using their lip liner, matte liquid lipstick, and concealer.
The products applied wonderfully. I was a bit hesitant to try out the concealer, since I can be selective, but this one was great. I even used a different shade of concealer on my eyes as shadow. The products applied smoothly and with the Miss A makeup sponge. The only complaint I have is that the liner was a bit stiff.
For the second look, I decided to go bold and try a metallic lip. These liquid lipsticks are no joke. When they say metallic, they mean it. They go on a tad bit watery, but dry down to be comfortable and not sticky at all. The only downfall is that they don't stay looking as bright throughout the day as the mattes do. It was a great way to try out the trend though.
Like all brands, some of their items were a hit, while others were a miss. But all in all, I'd say that Miss A is definitely worth a try, especially when it comes to their beauty tools. Their brushes have amazing quality, and you can buy them in a set or individually for just $1 each. Miss A has a pretty large selection of face and eye brushes that held up even after I washed them.
Of course, I could resist taking their silicone makeup sponge for a spin too. I have always been interested in the beauty tool trend, but couldn't see myself spending a lot of money on something I didn't know I'd like. Miss A's $1 silicone sponge was a great option. Plus it has glitter in it, which made me very happy.
While the sponge does work pretty well, especially when it comes to not wasting product, I can't see myself using it every day, since it doesn't get around my nose or under my eyes very well. Still, it was definitely worth the price.
All in all, Miss A is definitely worth the shop. You can try out tons of different trends, while sticking to a budget. The best of both worlds!
