Is Katy Perry's Pixie Cut Real? The Singer Debuted A New Look On Instagram

Reporting on the world of celebrity hair updates has made me skeptical of major hair transformations (Kylie Jenner, I'm looking at you), but that doesn't mean I'm immune to hair excitement. Katy Perry's pixie cut definitely qualifies as exciting. The "Chained to the Rhythm" singer has long been known for her slightly out-there beauty and fashion looks, but I don't think she's ever debuted anything quite as dramatic as the bleach blonde pixie cut she posted on Instagram Monday. Naturally, my first question was whether the pixie cut was real or not. Well, according to my investigation this pixie cut is the real deal.

Perry posted a selfie of her with new pixie cut on Instagram and tagged colorist and dpHUE Creative Director Justin Anderson — who is known for his icy blonde color expertise — and hair stylist Chris McMillan. Although the pixie cut definitely looks real in the pic, it's hard not to be skeptical of every major hair transformation celebrities undergo. After all, with the prevalence of hair extensions and wigs, celebrities can (and do) debut new looks every week.

Perry's hair has been shorter than ever recently, but this new cut looked like she'd chopped off even more length than ever before. Here's what she posted:

Looks pretty real, right? But you can never tell what to believe in the world of celebrities and social media. The Instagram story confirmed it for me though.

Yep, that's definitely a pixie cut. I'm loving this look for Perry. So what inspired it? Glad you asked.

It looks like Agyness Deyn's platinum crop was part of the reason Perry went for it.

It looks like Annie Lennox's signature blonde pixie also inspired Perry. Those are some pretty great hair muses, am I right? Although I'm sure Perry will debut a new look as soon as we get used to this one, I have to admit I'm liking this look for her.
