It's been a while since Kanye West fans have had the pleasure of watching the rapper perform live — around one year, to be exact. But Kanye West's return to the stage on Saturday, Nov. 4 not only caused his fans to go absolutely insane, but it also brought along a lot of questions about when we should expect to see the Life of Pablo rapper perform on tour again. With some help from rapper Kid Cudi who held a concert in Chicago on Saturday night, West surprised the crowd and stepped out on stage to perform "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1," the song he and Cudi collaborated on for his most recent album, The Life of Pablo.

A video of the performance that was posted on Twitter by DJ Booth shows Kid Cudi hyping up the crowd while the song's introduction plays in the background right before West emerges from backstage to join the rapper. Of course, the unsuspecting crowd went absolutely ballistic at the sight of him. West performed in a pair of sweatpants, a black hoodie, and a jean jacket, and he appeared to be in really good spirits. Watch the performance for yourself in the video below.

Needless to say, the fans who able to witness the greatness that was Yeezy's return almost immediately took to social media to express their excitement.

West has been pretty quiet since taking some much needed time off last year, and it's actually pretty fitting that his first time back on stage this year would be at a concert in his hometown of Chicago. And speaking of Chicago, West's close friend and fellow Windy City-born musician, Chance the Rapper — who's never been shy about admitting just how much he loves and looks up to Kanye West — also shared his excitement over the rapper's surprise performance via Twitter last night.

In case you're in need of a refresher regarding his absence, Kanye West cancelled the remainder of his tour late last year after a series of incidents and comments caused him to come under fire by his fans. Back in November, videos circulated of him endorsing Donald Trump during his tour stop in San Jose, California. "I said something that was kind of politically correct. I told you all I didn't vote," the rapper said in a video from the show that was posted online. “But I didn't tell you — I guess I told you — but if I would have voted, I would have voted for Trump."

Just days later, West made headlines again when more videos circulated from his tour stop in Sacramento. This time he was seen going on a 30-minute tangent slamming Beyoncé, JAY Z, and Hillary Clinton. "This Saint Pablo Tour is the most relevant [thing] happening. If your old ass keeps following old models, you'll be Hillary Clinton," he said, according to a report from The Sacramento Bee. "I'm on my Trump sh*t tonight."

He continued later on, "Right now, press, get ready to write your passive aggressive, LeBron James racist comments, season 4, racist comments. Get ready to have a field day press! Get ready! Get ready, the show is over!"

The rant ended with the rapper dropping the mic, storming off the stage, and ending his show early. Soon after, he cancelled a makeup concert due to vocal issues just before the remaining dates in his Saint Pablo tour were cancelled after he was reportedly hospitalized due to exhaustion.

Hopefully West's return to the stage last nice means that Yeezy season is nearing. His performance on Saturday night comes just days after the release of CyHi the Prynce’s new single "Dat Side," on which West was featured. He's been laying low for quite a long time but, if we're lucky, there could might be way more where this came from. Guess we'll have to stay tuned.
