2016 was a long, arduous year for almost everyone, but I think it's safe to say that the Kardashian crew faced some particularly hard personal struggles. And the Keeping Up With The Kardashians Season 13 trailer proves that the show isn't skirting over these issues. The teaser clip shows that not only will the public get an intimate look at what went on, but it seems the show as whole is going to take a more serious turn.

The trailer begins with a sound bite from a TV news story about Kim Kardashian's robbery, and then shifts to her version of events. The camera pans to Kardashian crying as she tells Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian of her thoughts during the robbery, "They're going to shoot me in the back. There's no way out. It makes me so upset to think about it."

But that's not all it shows. Kardashian is the center of another harrowing moment where she gets a phone call seemingly alerting her to Kanye West being in trouble and she breaks down. The rattled reality star exclaims, "Don't scare me, please. What's going on?" Once you see the clip, your heart will absolutely break for her.

Don't be too alarmed, though. The trailer makes sure to highlight that in this season "every laugh is louder," most likely due to the family surviving hard times by balancing out the ongoing turmoil. Besides, the Kardashians and Jenners aren't a family that is easily kept down. Their humor always shines through and it's an encouraging that the clip notes that it still hasn't gone away in spite of what they went through. The directional shift in the show feels slightly jarring, but it makes sense. It's a reality show and the reality is that their lives, for the past year, have been very different and very difficult.
