Miss Philippines' Miss Universe Gowns Are Gorg

by Jessica Thomas

The Miss Universe pageant is known for its glitz and glamour, and seeing the gowns is one of my favorite parts. But one contestant in particular stood out to me (and the crowd) — Miss Philippines' 2017 Miss Universe gowns were so beautiful, and it helped that the crowd was clearly rooting for her.

Miss Philippines, Maxine Medina, had the home court advantage at the 2017 Miss Universe pageant, which was held at the Mall of Asia in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The crowd is clearly going crazy for Medina, who if she wins will take home the crown for the Philippines for the second year in a row.

The crowd in the Philippines was clearly excited about having this contest hosted in their country this year, and Medina seemed like such a great representation of their country. Medina is a model and interior designer, and she dedicates her free time to causes she cares about, like eliminating childhood cancer and supporting Operation: Smile.

Medina clearly felt comfortable on the stage, and it showed every time she was in front of the cheering crowd. She showcased her personality with bright gowns, starting with a gorgeous pink gown for the opening.

I'm loving the thigh-high slit on this gown, and Medina looks so confident and comfortable in it.

I'm loving this sparkly red look from the red carpet as well. How gorgeous is that illusion neckline?

Her dress from the national costume show, which didn't air during the show but was part of the preliminary competition, was probably my favorite of the night. "I felt like a royalty when I walked in my national costume last night," Medina shared on Instagram. "The inspiration behind this creation include the colorful Muslim vinta, the corals, and the South Sea pearls of Mindanao."

Although this image quality isn't great, I love Miss Philippines' silver and red evening gown.
