Could the members of One Direction be getting back together in the near future? It remains to be seen, but in a new interview with Billboard magazine Niall Horan suggested that he's interested in reuniting with his former One Direction bandmates, and he apparently wants to make it happen in the next few years. Don't get too excited just yet though, it doesn't seem like some of the other former One Directioners aren't necessarily as interested in Horan, and all of the guys will need to get on board before it'll actually happen. Speaking with Billboard, Horan said,

"I told my managers from the start: When One Direction comes knocking, f**k what I’m doing. I don’t give a sh*t if I sold out arenas or won Grammys. I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for that."

Horan also explained that he's still close with his fellow bandmates, but that they haven't yet decided when they'll get back together. "We haven’t even had a conversation about how long we think the break will be," Horan shared. However, he did express his desire for it to happen in the near future. "When it will be, I don’t know," he said. "I prefer not to do it after I’m 40. I'd prefer the next few years."

Horan even suggested that he expects Simon Cowell — who brought the group together on The X Factor, then signed them to his record label — would be a part of the reunion. "We’ll always have mutual respect," Horan said in reference to Cowell's public attack on him for signing to a different label as a solo artist. "When we get back to the band, he’ll be at the forefront again."

Though it seems pretty clear that Horan wants the band to get back together in the near future, that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen. Back in January, 2016 Zayn Malik told The Sunday Times, "Who knows?" When asked about One Direction getting back together. "I don't know. If the time was right and that was the thing to do, then I would make that decision when it came around." Additionally, sources have claimed that Malik flat out does not want to be part of a reunion, and remember his shady words about the band immediately after he left? Don't remember? That's OK, I'll remind you... "That’s not music I would listen to,” Malik said back in 2015 about his decision to leave One Direction. "I want to make music that I think is cool sh*t."

In his interview with Billboard however, Horan dismissed Malik's comments. "Oh, pfft," he said. "I know what Zayn’s like — outspoken, and fair play to him." Here's hoping that Horan is right. I was definitely a fan of One Direction's music, and would love to see the guys reunite for at least one more album!
