Way back at the 2011 Oscars, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber made quite a dashing supercouple. She wore a red dress, while he wore a black tux with a matching crimson handkerchief in his pocket. It's been ages since Jelena were a "thing." I was hoping that Selena Gomez and The Weeknd would walk the 2017 Grammys red carpet, marking their fashionable and "official" debut as a couple.
Gomez, who is unquestionably one of the most stylish stars of her generation, was in absentia on the red carpet. Here I was, expecting Sel Go to turn up in her usual mix of sexy but appropriate attire, with her thick and glossy locks worn stick straight or in a messy updo, showing off her pretty face. But she didn't walk the carpet with her rumored new beau.
The Weeknd did perform on the live broadcast and he rocked it. It made me think that he and Gomez combined would have been tres sophisto... if they are indeed a couple.
We're going to have to wait for Gomez and The Weeknd to make it red carpet official whenever they feel like it.
The day before the Grammys, Gomez did post this Insta pic, rocking overalls with one strap down a la the '90s.
Also, here's something to consider. If/when Gomez and The Weeknd do get dressed up and step out together, Jelena shippers, or fans that ship The Weeknd and his ex Bella Hadid, will be relegated to crying in a corner. Jelena had plenty of fabulous fashion moments when they were together but both have since moved on.
It's time for Gomez to have high fashion "couple moments" with someone else.
