It feels like a certain singer just brought audiences back to the Upper East Side in the best way possible. On Friday, Selena Gomez released the "Wolves" video, a compilation of sultry visuals that happen to have an uncanny resemblance to a classic Gossip Girl episode. It's unlikely that the video for "Wolves" is a tribute to Gossip Girl intentionally, but that doesn't mean it's not still totally entertaining to recognize the similarities.

After releasing the upbeat EDM song on Oct. 25, the video premiered exclusively on Apple Music for the first 24 hours on Friday, Nov. 17. The big premiere came just days before the duo performs the song live at the American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 19. At first glance at the video, true Gossip Girl fans will experience some old memories rushing right back to them.

Let's set the scene: The video opens with a shot of an empty indoor pool that's completely dark and only lit by red and blue lights. Gomez walks in alone, wearing a champagne gown and strappy nude heels, red lipstick, and hoop earrings. Picturing the similarity yet? Because it feels just like Gossip Girl Season 1, episode 12 "School Lies," when the gang breaks into the high school swimming pool to have a party. When broken down, they look crazy similar.

The Lighting

This crucial element sets the tone and makes both videos all the more mysterious.

Specifically Blue & Red

The blue and red colors strongly come through in Sel's video, as they do in the episode due to Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck's (Ed Westwick) wardrobe.

They're Really Alone

Eerie shots like these make it clear that no one else is there (nor should they be).

The Creepy Shadows

The darkness and shadows just prove all these guys are clearly breaking the rules and they won't be stopped.

Using The Pool Without Caring

Not only are they breaking the rules, but they'll use the pool and they really don't care. While Selena rolls around around the pool and shower areas, the kids of the Upper East Side pop bottles and splash around.

The Sexy Vibes

Not only are they breaking and entering, but they're living their lives and looking super sexy while doing so.

And in the end of the video, Gomez looks up in a defying stance at the security camera, which is clearly capturing her roaming around alone (fitting, since the kids in GG ended up getting caught).

Themes of young rebellion and sexuality prevail in both cases, not to mention Gomez's fabulous gowns and extravagant accessories which are very Blair Waldorf.

While the actual meaning of the video is still up for debate regardless of hopeful GG fan theories, the timing of its arrival is pretty fascinating. The chorus of the song says, "I've been running through the jungle, I've been crying with the wolves, to get to you," and the video shows Gomez in a risky situation while yearning for love. Meanwhile, this comes days after fans learned Gomez romantically reunited with Justin Bieber (and the two were even caught kissing in public) after breaking up with The Weeknd.

When the song first came out, though, fans had other theories. Many believed the lyrics were inspired by Gomez's public battle with lupus and her kidney transplant because "lupus" translates to wolf in Latin. However, it was later revealed that Gomez didn't write "Wolves," so the song wasn't actually tied to her extremely personal health battle.

Other fans recognized just how romantic "Wolves" is — speaking about defying odds to reach one's love — which is why Jelena shippers (in addition to Gossip Girl fans) should be ecstatic right about now.
