Come on, be honest: Even though the solar eclipse is on Monday, you're already thinking about what you're going to caption your solar eclipse Instagrams. You know how I know this is true? Because I am too. I don't know why it's so hard to think of a caption most of the time, but a picture without a good caption is such a snooze. And on the flip side, a great caption can make any picture great.

So, I'm going to share some of my caption options with you. Because you probably don't have time to sit around thinking of cheeky or cute or poetic things to say on social media. But I do. I mean, literally, that's my job.

So consider the following captions — but remember, don't even think about going outside to see the eclipse without proper eyewear, and make sure your photos are in focus and sharp as can be. The eclipse isn't like a rainbow that you get immediate brownie points for posting simply because you're like one of 10 people who even saw the rainbow in the first place. Literally everyone and their mother is going to be posting pictures of the eclipse, so don't slack on your photo skills. Take all the measures to get the perfect picture. And when in doubt, shoot video and take screen shots of your favorite slides — that's my favorite trick for capturing the perfect image of a short-lived event.
