'Fargo' Season 3 Draws A New Cast To The Midwest

If you haven't delved into the world that Noah Hawley has created as an expansion of the Coen Brothers' famous Midwestern dark comedy, surely the Fargo Season 3 cast will tempt you to finally check it out. Previous seasons have featured actors such as Kirsten Dunst, Ted Danson, Martin Freeman, Jean Smart, and Billy Bob Thornton. However, since it is an anthology series, both new and old fans can start fresh with a new story and a new cast of characters.

This season features twins played by one actor, Parent Trap-style, which is fun. According to FX, the story this time around will focus on a real estate mogul known as the "Parking Lot King of Minnesota." His brother, on the other hand, is a "balding, pot-bellied parole officer with a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt — and he blames his brother." He teams up with one of his parolees to turn his life around, and the kind of chaos that only Fargo can deliver ensues.

In the main cast, but not pictured below, is comedian Jim Gaffigan as police deputy Donny Marshman. Other recurring cast members include Scoot McNairy, Karan Soni, and Thomas Mann. Here are the rest of the players that fans can look forward to in Season 3.

Ewan McGregor As Emmit Stussy

Matthias Clamer/FX

The Trainspotting star plays the aforementioned King with the perfect job and perfect family.

Ewan McGregor As Ray Stussy

Matthias Clamer/FX

The Star Wars actor also plays the younger brother with an ax to grind.

Carrie Coon As Gloria Burgle

Matthias Clamer/FX

You know Coon from The Leftovers. She plays the Eden Valley police chief, a newly divorced woman who finds herself connected to the eventual crime.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead As Nikki Swango

Winstead, who you may know from 10 Cloverfield Lane, Mercy Street, and Live Free Or Die Hard, plays Ray's love interest and potential partner in crime who "has brains, beauty and a deep and abiding passion for competitive bridge," according to FX.

David Thewlis As V. M. Varga

Matthias Clamer/FX

Professor Lupin himself plays one of Emmit's potential business partners.

Shea Whigham As Moe Dammick

Matthias Clamer/FX

This character actor has been seen in everything from Silver Linings Playbook to Agent Carter, Boardwalk Empire, and two Fast and Furious movies. He recurs on this season of Fargo.

Michael Stuhlberg As Sy Feltz

Matthias Clamer/FX

Another Boardwalk Empire alum, this actor was also in A Single Man.

Hamish Linklater As Larue Dollars

Matthias Clamer/FX

Finally, this recurring actor also had a small role on the Noah Hawley FX series Legion. You also know him from The Crazy Ones, The Newsroom, and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Though the series could still be considered underrated by some, Fargo is quite the playground for actors. They can go against type and really have fun. With yet another group of strong performers, Season 3 is sure to be excellent!
