'It's Always Sunny' Fans Should Watch These Shows

Friends, Frasier, Cheers, The Big Bang Theory... all beloved, long-running TV comedies. But, none of them as long-running as FXX's It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. In fact, I bet Dennis, Charlie, Mac, Dee, and Frank would have some choice words for these rival TV gangs that they are leaving in the dust as they close out on Season 12. But, will the Paddy's Pub gang keep the good times rolling? Will It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia return for Season 13?

UPDATE: It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Season 13 premieres on FXX on Sept. 5, according to a press release.

EARLIER: According to TVLine, FXX not only renewed It's Always Sunny for Season 13, but Season 14 as well. That's right, we can expect two more seasons with the gang. The article also explained that, at 14 seasons, It's Always Sunny will tie The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet as the "longest-running live-action comedy series in television history." I'm not sure Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, and Rob McElhenney expected this level of success when they shot the original pilot on a camcorder.

So, when can we expect Season 13? When looking at recent, past seasons, the show usually kicks off with a winter, January premiere date and runs about 10 episodes. This means that we are probably looking at a January 2018 premiere for Season 13 and a January 2019 premiere for Season 14.

While we have two years of fresh episodes of It's Always Sunny to look forward to, we're still going to have to wait months for more episodes. When Season 12 concludes on Wednesday, March 8, the wait begins. Fans will have to muddle through summer and fall, without the show — like the did the year before, and the year before that, and so on.

But, if the wait feels like too much or you find yourself needing to wean off of the series, I'm here to help. Here are some other shows with the It's Always Sunny stars to help get you through this dark period.

'The Mindy Project'

Glenn Howerton played Mindy's boyfriend Cliff on the Fox turned Hulu series. And, Rob McElhenney had an arc as Morgan's cousin, Lou Tookers. So, you can catch two It's Always Sunny stars on The Mindy Project. The full series is on Hulu.

'House of Lies'

Glenn Howerton did a stint as mayoral candidate Seth Buckley on Showtime's House of Lies, which is available on Amazon Prime.

'Fargo'

Howerton also played Don Chumph on the FX drama Fargo. His season of the show is available on Hulu.

'The Mick'

Kaitlin Olson is hilarious on the new Fox series The Mick. Still in its first season, all episodes are available on FOX's website and Hulu.

'New Girl'

Olson plays Jessica Day's former high school classmate-turned-stepmother in a couple of memorable episodes of the FOX series. New Girl Seasons 1 through 5 are available on Netflix instant watch.

'Curb Your Enthusiasm'

Olson played Cheryl's sister Becky on Curb Your Enthusiasm. The classic HBO series is available on the network's streaming platforms.

See? With all these shows to watch to tide you over, Sunny will be back in what feels like no time.
