By now, you've probably heard the devastating news that Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are splitting up after eight years of marriage, and you're probably still coming to terms with it. It seemed that the happy couple would be together forever, helping us all believe in love for decades to come. The news is even more shocking given that the two have made public appearances togethers since the beginning of the year, in simpler times when all seemed right with the world. Most recently, Faris and Pratt were last seen together publicly at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, and the photos will absolutely break your heart.
Pratt was being honored with a star of his own on the walk, so of course the entire family came out in support of him and his career. It's even more heart-wrenching to note that Pratt thanked his wife during his speech accepting the star, saying,
Little did we know that just a few short months later, Pratt and Faris would announce their separation, sending us all into a spiral of despair and hopelessness. Still, at least we have these images to look back on fondly.
Just look at that kiss which somehow manages to be both romantic and hilarious (are her eyes almost open?) at the same time. How are we supposed to move on from this?
And Jack! Our hearts! But move on we must, and move on we shall. The couple announced their separation on Sunday evening through a joint statement posted on social media. In it, Faris and Pratt stated that they are "disappointed," but will continue to "respect" each other.
The two met on the set of the 2009 comedy Take Me Home Tonight, and have been widely regarded as the ultimate #relationshipgoals ever since. I mean, how many other couples bonded over a shared love of dead bugs? Or unknowingly grew up in the same state just 20 minutes away from each other? And tell me, is there any other couple among us that has matching scars on their left hands?
Perhaps not. But regardless, it's safe to say that Faris and Pratt will continue supporting each other and doing what's best for their son, especially after looking at these photos.
Editor's Note: This article originally incorrectly claimed a July 2016 appearance at the Seattle Seafair Torchlight Parade to be the last time the couple was seen publicly. It has since been updated.
