This DIY Beauty Hangover Kit Will Help Make New Year's Day A Lot Less Painful

New Year's day is full of great things: Shiny new planners that haven't been abandoned into the junk drawer yet, brunch dates that involve drinking Bloody Marys with your sunglasses on, and long Netflix marathons in your favorite sweatpants. But the first day of the year also has a downside that many of us are going to experience — killer hangovers that are going to make you wish ordering an IV was as easy as ordering a meat lover's pizza. Alas it's not, but you can make the day after a little less painful if you stock up and create a DIY beauty hangover kit.

After a night of bright lights, sticky dance floors, and a constant parade of gin and tonics, you wake up feeling like roadkill. Your head is pounding, your eyes are puffy, your face is bloated, and no amount of makeup can buff away that slight tinge of death on your face. But if you have the right products on hand, you can at least soothe the worst of it away.

You still might need to put sunglasses on when you step outside, but at least the worst of it will be under control. Ahead are a few suggestions what to put in your survival box to help ring in 2018.

1

Fresh Power Essence Pouch Pack

Fresh Power Essence Pouch Pack, $1, Aritaum

Since you were too busy singing along to Demi Lovato at the top of your lungs while simultaneously teetering on your heels and drinking your vodka water (without the straw; we're saving the environment here), chances are you forgot to hydrate along the way. That means you're going to wake up with your body feeling like a raisin, totally devoid of any moisture and gasping for help. To fix that, stock up on the Capri-Sun-sized pouches of Power Essence Packs, or as I like to think of them, the best $1 you'll ever spend.

Pick out the "Moisture" pack specifically, and glob on its hydrating cream full of hyaluronic acid to put some life back into your face.

2

Gel Eye Mask

Gel Eye Mask, $7, Amazon

If you had something like three Manhattans and a bottle of corner store champagne, you're going to wake up with a Mariachi band playing full blast behind your eyes. Numb the pain away using a gel eye mask, which will apply some much-needed ice to your head and eyes. Just remember to pop it into the fridge before you head out to the clurb.

3

GlamGlow Waterburst Hydrated Moisturizer

GlamGlow Waterburst Hydrated Moisturizer, $49, Sephora

Your skin is going to be thirsty when you wake up at noon the day-after, and you'll be tempted to just dunk your head under the faucet to give your skin what it needs. Instead of doing that, act civilized and opt for GlamGlow's Waterburst Hydrated Moisturizer, which is a water-cream that offers you a whopping 72 hours of hydration. It turns into a watery gel when it makes contact with your skin, and has hyaluronic acid in it, which will make your skin feel like its gulping down water.

4

Rodial Super Acids X-treme Hangover Mask

Rodial Super Acids X-treme Hangover Mask, $41, Amazon

If you're the type that likes to do nothing more during their hungover morning than slapping on a face mask and ordering in takeout, then this is the product for you. It's a clay mask that increases your skin's circulation, and it's super exfoliating in that you actually rub it off dry.

That'll take some of the grey pallor off of your face!

5

Hair, Skin, & Nails Gummies

Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies, $8, Walmart

Fix your beauty problems from the inside out, replenishing your skin and hair with a dose of vitamins that it will need in order to rally back to life. And bonus, these are super yummy and strawberry flavored. Just eat them with the inevitable Chinese takeout you'll order as hangover food.

6

Luminesce Hydrashield Mask

Luminesce Hydrashield Mask, $84, Jeunesse

A dermatologist-grade sheet mask, these bad boys use a biocellulose material that better sticks to your skin, which locks in moisture to heal dehydrated and dull-looking complexion in under 30 minutes. It's like the equivalent of your skin chugging Gatorade while lying down in bed.

7

It Cosmetics Redness Relief Treatment

Bye Bye Redness Skin Relief Treatment Moisturizer, $48, Ulta

Do you wake up after a night of partying with red eyes, a red nose, a red everything? Tackle that puffy, splotchy face with It Cosmetic's Redness Relief Treatment. Developed in collaboration with plastic surgeons, the moisturizer soothes the look of redness while providing deep hydration, and it uses ingredients like oatmeal, chamomile, and cucumber to do it. So soothing.

8

Belif First Aid Anti-Hangover Soothing Mask

Belif First Aid Anti-Hangover Soothing Mask, $34, Belif Cosmetic

Cure hangover face with this gel face mask. Five minutes before using, stumble into the kitchen to pop this into the fridge, and then apply the cold product across your face for a soothing, quenching effect. Jam packed with anti-inflammatory ingredients, it will take away your puffiness, bloat, and redness, making you feel more human than when you woke up.

9

Honest Hazel Revitalizing Eye Gels

Honest Hazel Revitalizing Eye Gels, $12, Honest Hazel

Are your bags so big you can carry groceries in them? Use these gel eye masks to reduce puffiness, brighten dark circles, and hydrate that delicate skin. The gels use fun ingredients like cactus collagen and aloe to increase elasticity, improve circulation, and reduce puffiness. Just stick them into the fridge before you pop into your Uber on NYE.

10

Pharmagel Nourish Cleanse

Pharmagel Nourish Cleanse, $34, Pharmagel

This isn't the time for your regular drugstore soap; you need to bust out the oils to tackle your skin today. Skip your regular foam cleanser and instead opt for a more heavy-duty oil cleanser. Not only will it help scrub off last night's makeup that you probably fell asleep in, but its rich oils will help hydrate your parched skin, tenfold. This particular one has eight different oils, some of which are Argan, cranberry seed, marula, safflower, and sunflower, which contain beneficial fatty acids that help to improve the appearance of dry, damaged skin. A dry, damaged skin you shall have.

If you even stock up on one of these products, your morning will go smoother than it would have without them. Whether you choose an oil cleanser, undereye gel masks, a redness cream, or simple gummy vitamins, your body will thank you in the AM.
