This $1600 Skin Care Item Has Cat Poop In It

by Kali Borovic

There are a lot of weird beauty hacks floating around. You've probably heard of fish pedicures and leech facials, but this product is like no other. The high-end beauty brand Hermetise uses cat poop in their skincare. Yes, you read that right. The three-step process costs over $1,600 and you have to rub cat dung all over your face. After hearing how this product is made, you won't feel so bad that you can't afford it.

People go to crazy lengths to get clear, plum skin, but this might be going a little too far. Hermetise's Kopi Luwak Anti-Pollution Oxygen Brightening Treatment combines gold, the most expensive coffee in the world, and cat poop together to make for one exclusive item. I'm talking $1,664 for each three-part step. That means that the entire skincare regimen costs a cool $4,994, and that's not a typo.

So what makes it so expensive, you ask? Well, it all has to do with the Civet — an Asian cat that has very expensive taste in coffee. The animal eats the beans, poops it out, and the farmer scoops it up to eventually go in this skincare. Benefits include skin tightening, brightening, and anti-aging on top of maintaining pH balance and moisture.

"The Civet likes to eat cherry beans and while they love the taste, they are unable to break down the seed during digestion which produces a particular fermentation," the brand says in a press release. "When the Civet does his, 'business' what is left is newly fermented beans which farmers then collect, wash, dry, sort, and finally roast them into this expensive and extraordinary coffee."

Of course, the brand suggests that you use all three steps together, but if you can only afford one $1,600 item, let me break it down. The first step is for anti-wrinkle and is a gel to cream consistency. The second step is a 24K gold serum that fight pollution, and the last is a textured coffee-infused cream for tightening skin.

These products won't exactly be flying off the virtual shelves anytime soon, so you have some time to save up. That is, if you want to rub cat poop all over your face. No judgement.
