Andy Cohen, you need to make this spoof a reality. Beloved and long-running children's program Sesame Street is making fun of the Real Housewives with its very own series of videos called The Real Grouches of Sesame Street. First of all, that title name is beyond perfection. Secondly, I haven't enjoyed something so much since Erika Jayne told PK to get off the stage at the Season 7 Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion.
In the following clips available on YouTube, Oscar the Grouch, Grundgetta, Diva Garbagedump (Get it? Like, Lisa Vanderpump!) and her lookalike Giggy, and Grover not only offer up memorable taglines, but also deliver some epic Real Housewives moments, Sesame Street-style. As much as the Grouches want to eat and talk trash, thankfully nice guy Grover is there to teach them important lessons about kindness. Maybe Grover needs to head on over to the actual Real Housewives series to educate some of the women (and men... ahem, PK).
Those who don't watch the Bravo franchise religiously surely won't appreciate the spoof, but if you consider yourself a die-hard fan like myself, then you definitely have to watch the following videos. They will seriously make your entire day, that's how fantastic they are. Now, drop whatever you're doing and press play immediately.
The Taglines
Take note of each character's tagline, because they are replicas of previous ones crafted by Housewives. Oscar's has Sonja Morgan written all over it ("I have a taste for luxury, and luxury has a taste for me). Grundgette clearly loves Erika Jayne ("I'm an enigma, wrapped in a riddle, and cash.") As for Diva Garbagedump, she admires Kim Zolciak ("People call me a gold digger, but they just want what I have.") Finally, there is sweet Grover, who is all about Kyle Richards ("In Beverly Hills you can be anything, but it’s most important to be yourself.")
The Song Titles
Not only do they double kiss like the Real Housewives, but they also embody their singing "talents." I'm going to need to hear their versions of "Don't Be Tardy for the Party," "Money Can't Buy You Class," and "Pretty Mess," stat. And don't even get me started on their confessionals, where they truly embrace their inner Housewife by throwing shade at one another — save for Grover.
"Fur Lounge"
LVP, Sesame Street just gave you your new restaurant idea in "Fur Lounge." This hilarious take on SUR even serves up a "plate of moldy cheese." I wonder if it's as good as SUR's famous goat cheese balls? Whether it's intentional or not, Diva Garbagedump also totally makes a dig Vanderpump Rules by declaring, "I pride myself on hiring only the worst wait stuff." Be sure to watch until the end so you can hear Grover's quote about the reunion. It's so good.
I never would've thought Sesame Street and Real Housewives would go hand-in-hand, but they absolutely do. Here's hoping stars from the Bravo franchise take time to watch The Real Grouches of Sesame Street, because they could learn a thing or two.
