Following weeks of anticipation, Attorney General William Barr announced on Thursday morning that he would release the complete, redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation to the public. The full transcript of Barr's Mueller report press conference reiterated an argument that President Donald Trump has made on numerous occasions — that there was no collusion between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russian officials.

"After nearly two years of investigation, thousands of subpoenas, and hundreds of warrants and witness interviews, the Special Counsel confirmed that the Russian government sponsored efforts to illegally interfere with the 2016 presidential election but did not find that the Trump campaign or other Americans colluded in those schemes," Barr said Thursday.

In his remarks, Barr argued that although Trump was "frustrated and angered by a sincere belief that the investigation was undermining his presidency," the president did not have "a corrupt intent to obstruct the investigation." Barr appeared to be responding to the fact that Mueller's investigation also looked into whether or not Trump intentionally tried to obstruct justice.

The report that will be released to the public is expected to be lightly redacted, per The Washington Post. Barr indicated that the redactions in the report pertained to four different categories of information. These redactions were made, Barr said, to avoid any interference with "ongoing investigations and criminal cases," such as the Roger Stone case.

As The Guardian pointed out, Barr seemed to make several attempts to defend the present during his press conference; at one point, Barr remarked that the "Deputy Attorney General and I disagreed with some of the Special Counsel’s legal theories," though they did not "rely solely on that in making our decision."
