Those on social media on Saturday had an interesting morning. It began when President Trump tweeted that he was rescinding his invitation to the Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry to celebrate the team's NBA championship at the White House. While people were still reacting to that, Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron LeBron James called Trump "U bum," and tweets, memes, and jokes flooded Twitter in a heartbeat.
Trump raised eyebrows on Saturday morning when he tweeted, "Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn." Hours later, James tweeted, "[You] bum, @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going! So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!"
To be clear, Curry never had any plans of going to the White House under Trump. In a statement to the media, the point guard explained his lack of interest in meeting the president:
We don’t stand for basically what our president has – the things that he’s said and the things that he hasn’t said in the right times. By acting and not going, hopefully that will inspire some change when it comes to what we tolerate in this country and what is accepted and what we turn a blind eye to. It’s not just the act of not going there.

James has never been hesitant to criticize Trump. While denouncing Trump's statements on the deadly violence that erupted at a neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August, James called Trump the "so-called president of the United States."
The basketball player called for peace and unity following the Charlottesville events, saying, "All of us looking in the mirror and saying, 'What can we do better to help change?' And if we can all do that and give 110 percent and give both foots forward, then that's all you can ask for. Shout out to the innocent people in Charlottesville and shout out to everybody across the world that just want to be great and just want to love. Thank you, and I love you all."
