New Year's is synonymous with all of the glitz! All of the glam! The shiny, shiny ball at midnight, sequins galore, etc. Anything that doesn't sparkle, why bother (unless it's not your vibe, to each their own). But if it is, Stila's got the liquid glitter eyeshadow to end all glitter eyeshadows. No muss, no fuss, to quote Madonna on an entirely separate matter, but the principle applies. What colors are Stila's Magnificent Metals Liquid Eye Shadows? It's a very metallic line-up.
The shadows are a new take on Stila's original Magnificent Metal line, switching the DIY aspect for ready-to-use tubes. The foil finish and solid dry-down remain, though, as do the the ultra gilt colors, currently exclusive to Sephora for $24. The Magnificent Metal Liquids come in eight shades: silver Diamond Dust, antique gold Gold Goddess, copper Kitten Karma, rose gold Rose Gold Retro, bronze Smoldering Satin, pewter Smoky Storm, pink-purple Violet Vixen, and blackened gold Molten Midnight.
According to the brand, this is a "long-wearing, sparkle eye shadow with the perfect blend of pearl and glitter," with a "water-infused texture [that] glides on effortlessly, then dries down smoothly, locking in maximum sparkle with minimal fallout." All ideal, especially given glitter's tendency to migrate — the shadows apply smoothly and are loaded with pigment, while the glitter becomes even more pronounced when it dries. This is a sparkle commitment.
Seven of the nine shades are light metallics, making them perfect for shine without a huge pop of color getting in the way. These are like highlighters for your eyes, outside of the black pyrite of Molten Midnight (which is making me want to go spelunking ASAP. Gotta see that mineral in the wild).
Encased in a heavy glass package with doe-foot applicator, the Magnificent Metal Liquids are a one-and-done NYE look, and as a plus the gleam will carry you through the bleak winter months post-festivities. Keep the party going.
