The New Starbucks Macchiatos Are Coming Soon

I'm a huge proponent of spring cleaning — simplifying, clearing out, moving forward. That clarity should also apply to your routines. Looking for a way to change up your 3 p.m. pick-me-up break? You're in luck — Starbucks is rolling out two new Macchiatos for spring. If you're wondering, "When can I get the new Starbucks Macchiatos?", take a deep breath. They'll be here soon.

Now, to be clear, Starbucks Macchiatos are a little different than the traditional macchiato beverage, which is a shot of espresso "marked" with a bit of foamed milk; instead, they're more like what's typically known as a latte macchiato. The Starbucks Macchiato first hit the coffee scene 20 years ago with the Caramel Macchiato, which combines espresso, steamed milk, vanilla syrup, and caramel sauce. Since then, two more "core" variations have been added to the Starbucks menu: The Latte Macchiato and the Espresso Macchiato. Now (drumroll please), there are two more permanent members: The Iced Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato, and the Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato, both of which are dairy-free. What's more, they're hitting the menus on Feb. 28 — which, at the time of this writing, is tomorrow. Think of it as a windup to spring, which officially begins on Monday, March 20 with the arrival of the Spring Equinox.

The Iced Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato is inspired by horchata, a rice-based drink enjoyed throughout Spain and Latin America. At Starbucks, espresso, almond milk, and cinnamon dolce syrup combine to create a sweet 'n' cinnamon-y treat that will almost certainly prove next-level refreshing.

If the Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato sounds familiar, it's because the drink was originally introduced last summer, but over ice. This new, hot variation, which combines espresso, coconut milk (lighter and more refreshing than regular milk), and white chocolate mocha, caramel and mocha sauces, is perfect for those days when you still need a sweater but you're really insistent that summer is around the corner.

Both the Iced Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato and Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato are core menu items at all Starbucks stores in the United States and Canada, beginning Feb. 28.
