I honestly feel like I know everything about the women (and some of the men) in the Real Housewives franchise. Watching so many seasons of so many cities of women screaming at each other has made me a bit of a Bravo encyclopedia, so I feel a little ashamed that I didn’t know that Erika Jayne, aka Erika Girardi, aka the queen of the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills franchise, had a son! He’s never featured on the show, so maybe I missed it or something. I must have been sick that episode. But maybe he’ll show up on Dancing With The Stars to support his mother! Who is Erika Jayne’s son?
According to Bravo, Tommy works in law enforcement. His dad is Erika’s first husband, and she has known since he was a little boy that that would be his path in life. "I'm very proud of my son being in law enforcement, but obviously it can get a little nerve racking,” Erika said, according to Bravo. "It's a dangerous profession. I've known my son was going to be in law enforcement from the time he could walk and talk. That's all he's ever wanted and that's kind of your role as a parent is to honor who your children really are."
Erika raised her son as a single mom, so it’s safe to say that she and Tommy have a good relationship. In fact, like many other millennials, Tommy is still at home with Mom, despite the fact that he has a full-time job and life, and Erika loves it. “I actually love having my son there. He's free security, OK?" Erika told Bravo. "But, you know, Tom's very busy and travels all the time. I travel all the time, and my son is super busy. So it's nice. We have a really big house, so it's nice to have him there… It's nice to hear him come home. It's nice to hear him come off duty and I can see his car in the driveway or I hear him walk up the steps. To me, I sleep a little better at night just knowing that I know where he is."
I knew that Erika was my favorite Housewife because I think she’s just so normal, but this really solidifies her normalcy to me. She’s just a woman with money who loves her kid and wants to sing and doesn’t give a flying you-know-what about what people think of her. She’s above the drama, and she just wants to hang with her friends and family. And I totally understand why Tommy isn’t featured on television with Erika — he could be the target of harassment or ridicule because his mother is on television, and he doesn’t need that in his job or life. Erika signed up for it, but Tommy did not. She’s the celebrity, but I hope that he’ll at least cheer on his mother on Dancing With The Stars.
