There is another royal engagement to celebrate. Prince Harry and Prince William's cousin Princess Eugenie got engaged to Jack Brooksbank during a vacation in Nicaragua earlier this month after seven years of dating, according to People. The princess' parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson, Duchess of York released an official statement to announce the news.

"The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Mr. Jack Brooksbank," they said in a statement posted on The Royal Family Twitter account. The family also announced, “The wedding will take place in the autumn of 2018 at George’s Chapel in Windsor, with further details to be announced in due course.” This is the same location where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will tie the knot in May.

The Daily Mail reports that Eugenie and Brooksbank met back in 2010 during a ski vacation in Verbier, Switzerland when they were introduced by mutual friends. At the time, the princess was still a student at Newcastle and he was a waiter in London.

As if dating a Royal Family member didn't have its own unique set of challenges, the couple endured long distance dating for two years when Eugenie moved to New York to work at an auction house, as the Daily Mail reports. While her career progressed in the United States, Brooksbank continued to work in the hospitality business. He went from being a waiter to managing a popular nightclub called Mahiki in Mayfair, London. He worked there until 2016 when he started his own company, Jack Brooksbank Ltd., which is a wine merchant business, according to The Evening Standard. The Daily Beast also reported that Jack Brooksbank Ltd. specializes in the wholesale of alcohol. Hello magazine reports that Brooksbank has also served as the United Kingdom Brand Ambassador for Casamigos Tequila, the tequila brand that was founded by George Clooney and Rande Gerber.

After so many years together, an engagement was pretty much expected, and it's very clear that the princess' mom is more than on board. Aside from the official statement from the family, the Duchess of York posted a bunch of sweet tweets about the engagement. Even royal moms cannot help gushing over their children on social media. Ferguson tweeted a photo with the words, "A total embrace of goodness, and joy. We love Jack and I am so excited to have a son, a brother, and a best friend. Eugenie is one of the finest people I know and so together, it will be pure harmony."

Ferguson then posted a photo of Princess Euganie with Brooksbank on a boat with the funny caption, "They float with laughter and love .. although a boat helps!" She also tweeted, "I always say that the river flows well to it’s destiny because of the guidance of a solid rock."

Aside from getting the blessing and clear approval from his lady's parents, it seems like Brooksbank was meant to be a part of the family since Princess Eugenie has a dog who is also named Jack. A 2012 article from Express mentions that the princess' Norfolk Terrier was four years old at the time of publication. This means that he was born in 2008, which is two years before the future husband and wife even met.

There's no word on when the princess adopted the pup, but it is a pretty funny (and confusing) coincidence that her boyfriend has the same name as her pet. And if she adopted Jack the dog after she met Jack the human then it's a pretty sweet (and still confusing) gesture.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have been going strong since the very beginning. They made it through long distance dating and have their family's seal of approval. Now, we all just have to wait for what is surely going to be a stunning wedding.
