While Zayn Malik is nominated for Top New Artist at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, unfortunately it doesn't look like the singer will be able to make it to the big show in Las Vegas. So, why isn't Zayn at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards? On Sunday, May 21, he tweeted that he wouldn't be able to make it to the awards ceremony, because he's, well, working on new music.
"Can't make it to the BBMAs tonight and know I've been away for a bit," Zayn wrote. "Finishing up these new songs for you. Be back soon [smirking face emoji]." There's no word on where exactly Zayn is working on those new tunes, but it's good to know that the artist is putting his all into his music.
Still, Zayn does seem excited for the BBMAs — he retweeted a message by the Billboard Music Awards' official account declaring, "Top New Artist nominee [Zayn Malik] has spent over 40 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100!" That success is thanks to his hit songs "Pillowtalk, "Like I Would," and "I Don't Want to Live Forever" with Taylor Swift from the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack. Even more exciting, though, are these potential new songs in the works.

Even though it's a little disappointing to hear that the pop star won't be at the T-Mobile Arena to accept any potential awards he could win, it sounds like Zayn's new tunes will be worth the wait.
