Witty Princess Leia Quotes

by Lia Beck

On Friday, Dec. 23, upsetting reports came out claiming that Carrie Fisher had suffered a heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles. (Bustle reached out to Fisher's rep at the time of the reports, but did not receive a response.) Fisher is beloved by Star Wars fans everywhere because of her portrayal of Princess Leia Organa in the original Star Wars trilogy and the eighth episode in the series, 2015's The Force Awakens. With so many Star Wars films featuring the character, there's been a ton of memorable Princess Leia quotes over the years. Some of the most powerful ones are her witty lines, and they're quite comforting at a time like this.

While some people still might best remember Princess Leia for the bikini she wore while enslaved by Jabba the Hutt, she was a force to be reckoned with on her own, and put on a brave face at times when Han Solo and Luke Skywalker didn't right away. Plus, in The Force Awakens, she played a general and showed that she was still powerful all those years later.

If you want to take a look at some of Princess Leia's strongest lines over the course of the franchise (and why wouldn't you?), look no further.

"Some day you're gonna be wrong, I just hope I'm there to see it."

Said to Han, of course.

"I'd just as soon kiss a wookiee."

"Why you stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder!"

Yep, he definitely took the brunt of her insults.

"I don't know who you are or where you came from, but from now on you'll do as I tell you, okay?"

You tell 'em!

"You're braver than I thought."

Yeah, she kind of ran things for a while there.

"The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers."

Not all of the hard-hitting lines were directed at Han.

"Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"

Yep, Luke got dissed, too.

"Well somebody has to save our skins. Into the garbage, fly-boy!"

If the trash compactor scene didn't scar you, did you even have a childhood? Leia's responsible.

Now, don't you feel inspired to go call someone a nerf herder?
