Just in time for the biggest women’s soccer tournament this summer, U.S. Soccer has taken its merch to the next level with a capsule collection that is live now. The capsule, which features a range of must-have merchandise including T-shirts, jackets, scarves, and hats, has been designed by five emerging designers. Two of these designers have also been selected by Visa to participate in the latest installment of She’s Next in Fashion, Empowered by Visa.

Whether it’s in sports or business, there’s nothing more thrilling — and rewarding — than encouraging women to excel in their respective fields. This program supports just that.

How She’s Next In Fashion Comes Into Play

Visa kicked off the She’s Next program in 2019, and has since provided $3 million through 260 grants to women-owned small businesses. Further, the She’s Next in Fashion, Empowered by Visa grant program launched in 2022 to provide women-owned small businesses in fashion and beauty (with a focus on BIPOC designers and professionals) the tools and resources needed to thrive and grow. In total, over $1 million across more than 100 grants has been awarded to fund participating talent across fashion and beauty businesses.

Two designers from the She’s Next in Fashion, Empowered by Visa program, Samii Ryan of SamiiRyan and Christen Press of RE-INC (and of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team), have designed pieces for the limited-edition U.S. Soccer capsule collection. Both Ryan and Press aim to challenge the status quo with their work.

The SamiiRyan brand, which is known for its ’90s nostalgia inspo with a modern edge, excels at giving streetwear a feminine twist. You can see these elements in the capsule collection, which includes an oversized tee, a spandex bodysuit with gloves, a satin tracksuit, and a classic bucket hat.

Similarly, RE—INC, co-founded by Press, believes in sustainably-made gender-free fashion that champions equity, creativity, progress, and art. The featured bandana, which is inspired by the Australia and New Zealand night skies, speaks to the ability to be constellations of change.

Visa’s Commitment To Women in Sports

According to a Visa survey of 5,000 adults and 2,250 small business owners in 10 markets conducted by Wakefield Research, eight in ten (82%) of women small-business owners agreed participating in sports impacts a person’s success in business. For more than 15 years, Visa has invested in inclusion and community within women's soccer, serving as an advocate for equality and supporting advancements in the sport globally.

At this year’s tournament, Visa will further bridge women in sport and women in business through their Visa Player of the Match grant program. At each match, the fan-voted Visa Player of the Match will share the spotlight with a woman-owned small business from their home country, who will receive a grant from Visa of at least $5,000. Sixty-four grants will be given for the tournament's 64 games, and grant money will increase each round (reaching $50,000 for the final match and $500,000 in total grant money overall). Understanding the challenges that women face across industries, this initiative shows how supporting women in sports can have a positive effect on women in business.
