Fashion at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards was all about optical illusion. Kylie Jenner represented the thermo-imaging trend that’s hitting it big this season, while Mary J. Blige’s dress almost looked like a tattoo. Here, all the must-see outfits from the red carpet.

Kylie Jenner hit the red carpet with boyfriend Travis Scott and daughter Stormi Webster wearing one of the biggest trends of the season: the new take on the naked dress. Her Balmain gown featured a thermal-image print that looked sheer but was a total optical illusion.

In all black, Teyana Taylor bared it all, wearing a totally sheer Skims bandeau bralette and embellished Givenchy pants that rode so low you could see her exposed G-string on each hip. She accessorized the look with Balenciaga platforms, chunky silver jewelry, and a studded belt.

Dojo Cat also went the sheer route, wearing a black Schiaparelli Couture gown with a sculptural top that rode below her breast line at the front, revealing a sheer tulle wrap that cascaded down her back and gold nipple covers underneath.

Choosing red for her carpet walk, Dove Cameron’s Ashlyn gown featured silk that bustled at the hips. With a totally open front — held together by completely sheer tulle — her look fully embraced cut-outs.

Megan Fox kept it classic — with a twist — for this year’s Billboard Music Awards in a black David Koma dress with a down-to-there neckline and up-to-there slit that nearly met each other at her naval. On each sleeve was an embellished silver flower for a whimsical touch.

Chloe Bailey sported a black leather long-sleeved turtleneck gown designed by Valdrin Shahiti with a cutout so large across her mid-section that you could see her matching thong underneath. The look had total early aughts vibes.

Heidi Klum went for color in a bright yellow strapless Toni Maticevski dress, but paired the highlighter look with a pair of black thigh-high boots and matching opera-length gloves.

Taking the suiting look to the next level, Liza Koshy opted for a tailored mini skirt and matching blazer from Area, though the top half was totally cut out and embellished to resemble the boning of a corset.

Mary J. Blige rocked a long-sleeve Julien Macdonald gown with a head-turning front slit and allover embellishments that looked as though they had been tattooed directly onto her body.
