The Future Of Power: How Lincoln Is Leaning Into Electrification

While impressing with its hybrids, the storied brand is just getting started.

When you imagine the future, what do you see? What does our tech look like? What about our vehicles — how do they work? Instead of the future being some far-off sci-fi reality, it’s imminent. And that transition is clear in how we power our vehicles: the shift toward electric power. It’s in this space where Lincoln, a luxury carmaker with a century of iconic history, sees the opportunity to build a new legacy over its next 100 years.

Lincoln’s vision for an electric future features vehicles that are more than conveyances. They also function as mobile sanctuaries, enabling harmonious driving experiences and offering much-needed respite from the stresses of modern life. They are quiet, calming.

Currently, the Lincoln Aviator and Corsair Grand Touring Plug-In Hybrids are the best way for discerning consumers to enjoy the power and prestige of Lincoln with the adaptability of a hybrid vehicle. It’s Lincoln’s “prequel” to its next chapter: The carmaker has big plans for a fully electric future, a bold vision for itself that will ripple throughout the industry.

The Lincoln Star Concept isn’t a car you can pick up at a dealership today, but it does serve as a guiding vision for the future portfolio of Lincoln electric vehicles. The interior is clean and crisp, the center console buttons are gone in favor of a dynamic coast-to-coast digital display that’s as aesthetically pleasing as it is functional.

The horizontal lines and minimalist design of the interior are inherently calming, but turning on the car unlocks even more soothing features. Rejuvenation moods, which are essentially calibrated combinations of sound, lighting, animated displays, and relaxing scents, will be there when you need to get focused, wind down, or take a moment to mentally stroll a beach at sunrise. And of course, the fully electric engine, though powerful, is whisper quiet.

Having an electric vehicle will mean the days of stressing about gas prices and finding gas stations are behind you; having a Lincoln electric vehicle will mean your car is more than a car. It will be an oasis on the road and a respite from life’s stressors. Plus: additional space. With no internal combustion engine, EVs allow for more space. This is the vision that’s guiding the engineers and designers of Lincoln toward an electric future.

The electric future will begin with the release of four fully electric vehicles. All of these cars will offer the benefits of an electric vehicle along with the clean design and thoughtful luxury that both build on the Lincoln legacy and signal a new way forward for the company.
