2015 brought on the summer of the celeb breakup, and fans really suffered a tough one when Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck announced they were divorcing. After all, Affleck and Garner did date other famous faces before getting together, so for now, let's take a look at who Jennifer Garner dated before Ben Affleck.

The actors were married for 10 years, so you're forgiven if you have forgotten Garner's past high-profile relationship. The actress was not only in a serious relationship with another actor before Affleck, she was also married! Garner married actor Scott Foley in October 2000, and their marriage lasted for four years. They met on the set of the television series Felicity, in which Foley starred from 1998 to 2002. Garner guest-starred on the show in 1998.

Foley and Garner separated in 2003, and their divorce was finalized in 2004, just a few months before Garner began dating Affleck. In 2013, she told Allure, she and Foley "didn't have a shot. He's a really good guy, and we just imploded." But even though she admitted their did not stand a chance at working out, she still had nothing but nice things to say about him afterward.

In a 2013 issue of Allure, Garner said of Foley, "Oh, he's a great guy. We were full-on grown-ups, but looking back I'm aware we did not know what hit us." She followed up by saying that it was the relationship itself that "imploded," while emphasizing once more that he is a "good guy."

Foley, for his part, did most of the talking soon after the relationship ended back in 2003, putting hurtful rumors to rest about what went wrong in their relationship and reports that there was someone else who was the cause of the split. Foley said, "There was no other relationship, there was no infidelity, nothing. People get divorced, you know? Through no one's fault and everyone's fault." For good measure, he also spoke highly of Garner, acknowledging her rise to becoming a huge celebrity and telling TV Guide, "she deserved everything she got."

The decision to divorce was reportedly mutual, and no more further details were revealed about the reason beyond irreconcilable differences. Perhaps it's because neither felt the need to drag each other down in the press just because they did not work out as a couple. And honestly, it is nice to see that Garner and Foley both maintained respect for one another given their romantic history.

Considering she was married twice, both for pretty long amounts of time, it's no surprise that Garner has not had many relationship rumors surrounding her. That said, in addition to Affleck and Foley, the actress was rumored to have dated actor Michael Vartan, her Alias co-star, following her divorce from her first husband.
