Kerry Washington Wears Mary Katrantzou Brocade Dress Olivia Pope Would Be Proud Of
We can all wax poetic about Olivia Pope's absolutely killer personal style (All those white suits! The designer handbags! The beautifully constructed wool coats! The even more beautifully constructed evening gowns!), but truthfully? There's one woman out there who would definitively reign victorious in a gladiator-style sartorial fight-to-the-death — and that woman just happens to be Kerry Washington, who wore a Mary Katrantzou ensemble her on-screen persona would be proud of.
Washington has that magical ability to make just about any outfit sing — whether it's quirkily-baubled Stella McCartney at the Teen Choice Awards, or cumulus-adjacent Giles (and everything in between), you'll rarely catch the Scandal star looking anything less than devastatingly fabulous. At any rate, her newest look would definitely make the infamously unflappable Ms. Pope proud (and possibly the tiniest bit jealous): Last night, she attended ABC's TGIT panel as part of the summer TCA tour alongside fellow Shondaland stars (and indeed, Shonda Rhimes herself), and she wore what might just be the prettiest blue brocade Mary Katrantzou sheath dress on the planet.
Ms. Washington styled the superlative look with equally superlative hair, makeup, and accessories. She wore her hair in her signature side-swept shoulder-length waves, and she coordinated with her bright blue color palette by sporting eye-catching turquoise drop earrings and a metallic blue smoky eye. Finally, she finished the look off with a sheer coral lip, and some chic no-nonsense pumps. Let's take a look!
Pretty darn stunning, no? Washington has a history of fabulously wearing Mary Katrantzou (she recently wore a mod number from the designer at Paleyfest LA, and her memorably metallic Golden Globes dress was another Katrantzou creation) — but this kicky brocade number might just be her best yet.
