Kerry Washington Admits She Borrows Olivia Pope’s Sweaters, Plus 3 Cozy Knits We Think She'd Approve Of, Too
Scandal's Olivia Pope has a seriously enviable wardrobe, from her gorgeous designer handbags to the array of white sweaters and dresses the character is usually decked in. Apparently others agree, because Kerry Washington has been known to borrow Olivia Pope's clothes from the set of the ABC show. The actress admits she's a fan of Olivia's wardrobe, especially her sweaters.
“I may have borrowed some of her cashmere sweaters,” Washington told People in an online article. “Her loungewear is similar to my flying gear.”
You can't really blame Washington for taking advantage of Olivia's amazing wardrobe. When someone looks that good while eating popcorn and drinking red wine on her couch, you have to take style tips. Olivia's typical office look is definitely formal, from her silky shirts to her perfectly accessorized jewelry.
Of course, no outfit is complete without a beautifully fitted coat, usually in a neutral shade like white, cream or beige. Side note, how does she manage to keep from spilling that red wine all over those light colored clothes? If only that TV magic could translate to real life.
Olivia's work outfits are probably out of my budget, but there's no reason I can't emulate her loungewear looks.
Here are three sweaters I know would be Olivia -approved.
1. Cream V-Neck Sweater
Everlane's basic cream v-neck is classic Olivia Pope, and its $60 price tag is a nice addition. The wide neckline is incredibly flattering as well. (Everlane Cotton Sweater V-Neck, $60, everlane.com)
2. Cashmere Poncho
Cashmere screams Olivia Pope, and this light beige cowl neck is oversized and comfortable. The wide bell sleeves add a fashionable edge, and the kangaroo pocket is a perfect way to warm your hands. (Nordstrom Cashmere Poncho, $298, nordstrom.com)
3. Cross My Heart Wrap Sweater
This light-grey wrap sweater is a little more scandalous (ha!) than Olivia usually wears, but she could easily pair it with a white tank or turtleneck. The grey is a great departure from her usual white while still remaining neutral. (Free People Cross My Heart Wrap, $108, freepeople.com)
