Trump's Craziest Quotes Of The Night

by Julie Alvin

His Royal Apprenticeship was probably the reason half of the viewers tuned into Fox News on Thursday night, and the craziest Donald Trump quotes from the Republican debate show that he certainly did not disappoint. The night started off with Trump getting booed after saying that he would not rule out running as an Independent if he was not selected as the GOP candidate. Host Megyn Kelly then asked Trump about derogatory comments he's made about women, to which he responded that he'd only made such comments about his old nemesis Rosie O'Donnell. Keeping it classy, Donald! Here are some gems from the night's main attraction.

1. "I will not make the pledge at this time."

When host Bret Baier asked that all candidates pledge that, should they lose their bid for the Republican ticket, they will not run as an Independent as that would compromise the party's chance for victory, Trump refused. Cue the boos from the audience.

2. "Only Rosie O'Donnell."

When Kelly said that Trump had called women "fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals," Trump falsely said that he had only said such things about O'Donnell. She responded on Twitter.

3. "I don't frankly have time for total political correctness."

Trump said this when Rand Paul admonished him for refusing to pledge not to run against their party. Trump's not into being PC? You don't say.

4. "I've taken advantage of the laws of this country."

Trump said in response to questions about his history of bankruptcy. Pretty masterful way to bring it back to the greatness of AMERICA, man.

5. "Our leaders are stupid. Politicians are stupid."

Trump said this when responding to a question about his recent claim that the Mexican government sends "rapist" and "drug dealers" across the U.S. borders. Hate to break it to you, Donald, but being in this debate makes you a politician.

6. "Reporters... they're a very dishonest lot."

Ahem, who was unable to produce evidence of Mexico's supposed strategy of sending criminals into the U.S.? And the reporters are the dishonest lot?

7. "I would say he's incompetent, but I don't want to do that because that's not nice."

This may be noteworthy only for the fact that it shows Trump resisting saying something that's "not nice." A first, indeed.
