Becky Is A Force To Be Reckoned With On 'BB17'

by Laura Rosenfeld

My, my, my, how the tables have turned. Last week, I thought Vanessa was the smartest contestant on Big Brother 17 , so much so that she was on her way to winning the whole thing. But as all good Big Brother fans know, a lot can happen in a week, and it did. Since then, Vanessa has been involved in some sticky situations that have put a huge target on her back, including getting in the middle of an explosive skirmish between James and Clay hours before his eviction. Because of all of that, the new Head of Household Becky has decided to backdoor Vanessa, and if she does, she is going to be a major force to be reckoned with on BB17.

If you're the kind of person that roots for the underdog, you must be screaming so much this week that you've lost your voice because the Sixth Sense alliance is crumbling, and the former floaters of the house are taking charge. Becky gathered James, Meg, and Jackie in her HoH room shortly after winning the competition to talk some strategy, and she revealed that she wants to backdoor Vanessa. This is partly a personal decision because Becky hates Vanessa for some reason. However, it's mostly a strategic decision because Becky, along with her fellow ragtag group of houseguests, figured out that Vanessa was behind most of the evictions from the house this summer, including Jeff, Audrey, and Jason. Let's all say it together: duh.

So the plan is to nominated Shelli and Steve as pawns and then backdoor Vanessa later. Becky made James, Meg, and Jackie promise that they wouldn't tell a soul about the plan.

Since Becky was so adamant about keeping the plan hush-hush, you would think that she would have her lips sealed the tightest. Not so, my friends. She filled John in on the plan later, which isn't totally unexpected considering these two seem to have a thing going on. However, Becky told Shelli about her plan to backdoor Vanessa, which I thought was a really bad move. Shelli is still closely aligned with Vanessa, even though things between the two have been a bit rocky this week. It's possible that Shelli would be more likely to go along with Becky's plan so as to ensure her own safety in the house for the week, but there's also the possibility that Shelli would do everything she can to keep Vanessa in the house because now that Clay is gone, she really is her strongest ally.

We'll have to wait and see how this all shakes out, but aside from that hiccup, if Becky's plan does work out, she is certainly going to be the biggest threat in the house moving forward. Vanessa is very intelligent, manipulative, and skilled at competitions. If Becky is responsible for her eviction, she will definitely have an easier time winning the game.

There's also the fact that Becky isn't too shabby of a player herself. She wins competitions, she recognizes threats, she's not afraid to make big moves, and she's extremely likable. Becky now just needs to hope that her fellow houseguests don't see all of this so that if Vanessa is evicted, she's not the next one out the door.
