Trevor Noah's New Teaser Makes A Statement

by Orli Matlow

Same chair. Different butt. Comedy Central released a new teaser for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah on Tuesday, which features his powerful strut to the iconic desk, and a great four seconds on the camera lingering on his butt. The Year of the Butt is still in full swing, guys, and Comedy Central is showing us that the power of "Milk Milk Lemonade" applies to guys, too.

The intro song is perfect: "Power," by Kanye West. It has an invigorating new energy, and plays on the new youthful angle the show is trying to take, and the youthful audience the show already has. Kanye's lyrics, "No one man should have all that power / The clock's ticking, I just count the hours," apply to the situation.

Stewart signing off was met with thinkpieces and farewells that described the immense influence he has had on politics and the discourse at large. People were just not ready to let go of the man behind the institution of The Daily Show, our favorite place to get our for real faux news. Trevor Noah has some big shoes to fill, you know?

In ascending to the throne, Noah has the same platform as Jon Stewart and will have a lot of influence, especially as the 2016 election approaches. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah will premiere on September 28th — just over a month! — and the clock is ticking. We're actively awaiting his debut and to see what this new era of The Daily Show has in store. If this teaser is any indication, it's going to be amazing.
