Laverne Cox Rocks Bangs, Plus 4 Looks She'd Love
In case you missed it, Laverne Cox debuted bangs on Good Morning America today, and it was just another look the actress totally pulled off. The Orange is the New Black star visited GMA to discuss her latest project, a film called Grandma. She flaunted her new hairstyle and seriously killer LBD on set.
Cox sat down with Robin Roberts to discuss her latest project, which is a film co-starring Lily Tomlin. During the segment, Cox also discussed an issue close to her — the murder of trans women of color. She's made a name for herself as a trans rights activist, especially among young people. Despite the somewhat serious nature of the GMA appearance, Cox was all smiles leaving the studio and posted multiple photos on Instagram of her appearance.
Though Cox's long blonde hair is usually flawless, she tried a new look today with a set of face-framing bangs. Her hair was long and wavy, similar to the way she usually styles it. Along with her new hairstyle, Cox wore a formfitting black dress with keyhole cutout and studded red Valentino stilettos.
It's always refreshing to see a celebrity mixing up their hairstyle and outfits, and Cox is no exception.
It's almost like I can't even remember what she looked like without bangs—they'rethat good!
So stunning, right?
Now that I know Cox is willing to switch up her hairstyles, here are four looks I think she should try out.
1. The "Lob"
Chrissy Teigen is known for her long locks, but she loves herself a long bob from time to time (thanks, extensions!). Her color is similar to Cox's, so I'm convinced this long bob would be perfect for her.
2. Rainbow Hair
This trend is making major waves, and it's for good reason. Cox is all about dressing boldly, so I think she'd be able to rock the statement-making rainbow hair trend. While her look might not be quite this colorful, some strategically placed color would be perfect.
3. Platinum Blonde
Kim Kardashian is another celebrity known for her signature locks, although they're dark and shiny while Cox's are blonde and wavy. When she switched it up and went platinum blonde, it was definitely a departure, but it was a good (temporary) look for the reality star. Cox could take a page from her book and lighten her blonde locks even more.
4. Tortoiseshell Highlights
If Cox is looking for a more subtle change, ecaille highlights could be a low maintenance way to switch up her look. The dying technique takes your natural hair color and incorporates lighter and darker highlights for a less-obvious ombre look. I can definitely see Cox incorporating this into her hairstyle.
