Get Rihanna's Blue Lipstick Look For An Alternative To The Usual Autumnal Shades

Rihanna has never met a trend she won't try at least once. It's obvious that she is pretty fearless when it comes rebellious makeup and hair, and is often the person who kickstarts trends. Rihanna's latest blue lipstick look might have her fashion minions scouring shelves at indie makeup stores to find a similar shade and to copy her look, ASAP!

It's actually not that hard to find a similar blue lipstick, but more on how you can replicate this lip look, which is an alternative to all the usual autumnal and vampy colors, in a hot sec.

Rih's blue lipstick was both electric and metallic. It is not recommended for shrinking violets, though. You wear a bold blue such as this on your lips and you'll have all eyes on ya!

Rihanna managed to avoid looking like Jack at the end ofTitanicwith her blue lips, and that's likely due to the shimmer in her chosen shade. The pop diva was also wearing an oversized and puffy army green jacket with ripped jeans, for the ultimate in street chic. Maybe that jacket kept RiRi warm!

The singer topped the whole thing off with her auburn ringlets, which she also showed off in her "BBHMM" video.

I like how she chose a non-matte texture. That silvery sheen made her lips pop even more.

Rihanna has opted for statement lips as of late. She was recently pumping a seriously matte purple pout that looked like a strip of velvet on her lips.

The fashion darling also showed off her toned legs. The balance of her big curls and shapely stems was flawless.

Wanna make like RiRi and do the blue on your lips? Here are three options for achieving a blue lip. You won't find blue lipstick easily at CVS or Target, unless you are shopping the aisles at Halloween time. But there are some brands that specialize in this uncommon lipstick shade.

1. Manic Panic Lethal Lipstick In Starry Night

This shimmery blue in the Ice Metals formulation, which is frosty and metallic, will look best if you apply four or five careful coats. Use a lip liner to prevent any feathering, bleeding, or messes. Plus, you will be such a badass when pulling out the diamond-studded and skull-design case! ($15.50, manicpanic.com)

2. Manic Panic Lethal Lipstick In After Midnight

After Midnight is a slightly softer shade, but it's just as sparkly. Again, multiple swipes to dial up the intensity will allow for a "look at me," inspo-from-Rihanna lip. ($15.50, manicpanic.com)

3. Ardency Inn Long Play Supercharged Modster Lipstick in Black Is Blue

This dark 'n' creamy, deeply pigmented blue also requires a few slicks to get that downtown, street chic, blue-lipped RiRi look. I once again suggest using a clear lip liner to give the lipstick something to adhere to and to help keep a careful shape. This look can get messy and then the whole thing will go totally off the rails. ($25, ardencyinnstore.com)

Take some inspo from RiRi and try bold, velvet-y blue lips this fall. It's a fresh alternative to usual gothy lip colors like purple, red, and black.
