Imgur Couple To Wed After Connecting Over A Meme

by Lara Rutherford-Morrison

It turns out that memes aren’t just efficient ways to completely destroy your productivity: If this story about a couple that fell in love via Imgur is anything to go by, they’re also pretty effective dating tools. In a post titled “A Match Made On Imgur,” a user who goes by “WlfQueen07" (“Cesci” in real life) recounts how she met her new love via a popular meme. Brace yourselves for a ridiculous level of cute.

The story began two years ago, when Dean, aka “StrayBullet” on Imgur, became known as the “Ridiculously Happy Marine” after an image of him gleefully holding a stack of packages went viral. He began to post further pictures of himself stationed in Uganda, usually with a huge smile on his face, much to the delight of his many fans on Imgur. In her post, Cesci points out that he was particularly popular with the ladies, writing, “Panties dropping and ovaries exploding all over the place over this dude!”

In 2013, Cesci came out of lurkerdom to send Dean a message; he responded, and the pair eventually figured out that they lived only a few towns apart from each other. Here’s the photo that started it all:

Cesci writes, “I stalked this Imgurian celebrity for long enough...I sent him a message and hoped he would respond..He did!”

Over a year later, they finally met, and declared their love on Imgur:

In response to one commenter's friendly order to "Invite imgur if you wed," Dean wrote, "We were talking about how if we got married we don't have enough friends to invite.....might have a few now!"

You can now find them together on Instagram @ridiculouslyhappycouple, where they are, yes, ridiculously adorable.
