Three Injured At Colorado High School Shooting

At least three students were injured in gunfire today at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colorado. County sheriff Grayson Robinson told press that the suspect has been found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and that the suspect was a student. When another student confronted the suspect, Robinson said, the person was shot. Another wounded student was found by police when they evacuated the school.

The suspect is believed to have acted alone. At least one student has been taken to hospital in critical condition — hospital officials, according to CNN, have said they've treated three injured students — and Robinson said that the gunman had intended to target a teacher. The suspect apparently walked into the school with a shotgun in full view, and then stated openly that he was looking for a specific teacher.

Students were evacuated to a shopping center across the street from the school, where police cars and fire trucks were waiting.

The White House said the President had been briefed about the shooting.

Tomorrow marks the one-year anniversary of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, in which 20 students and 6 teachers were killed by gunman Adam Lanza.

Arapahoe High School is a mere eight miles from Columbine High School, the site of the infamous shooting in 1999. 15 people died, including the shooters. The school is also sixteen miles from the Century 16 Theatre, where shooter James Holmes shot into the audience at a midnight movie premiere in Aurora on July 20 last year, killing 12 people and injuring 70.
