Pharrell Wore Denim To The VMAs Like A Boss

There's no denying that he is one of the most prolific artists of his generation, but Pharrell at the 2015 VMAs brought out an all-denim outfit that totally stayed true to his style. The "Freedom" singer showed up to the annual MTV awards red carpet in a matching jean jacket and pants, which he paired with a cap and Chanel boots. Classic Pharrell. It was definitely one of the safest style choices of the night, but if anyone can pull off denim on denim like a boss, it would be the CFDA Fashion Icon himself.

As one of the night's performers, Pharrell arrived to the VMAs red carpet accompanied by his lovely wife and fellow fashionista Helen Lasichanh, who wore denim overalls and shirt. She topped off her look with a black bowler hat and a pair of boots that matched her husband's. The duo was one of the most stylish couples at the 2015 VMAs in their coordinated outfits.

What makes Pharrell stand out from other red carpet celebrities at the VMAs, however, is how he carries the message of celebrating individuality through fashion. During Pharrell's CFDA acceptance speech last June, the singer and producer talked about embracing personal style.

"What makes us different is what makes us special, and that's OK," he said. "You see, I'm not a style icon — I'm just inspired. I'm 'other,' and I'm OK with that. Someone's gotta do it." His denim-clad outfit to this year's VMAs also shows how Pharrell's style has evolved. Even though he constantly surprises the fashion world with every outfit, the one thing that hasn't changed is his cool and unique swagger.
