Is Beyoncé Working On New Music?

by Alex Kritselis

It's been one year and eight months since Beyoncé "broke the Internet" by dropping an album out of nowhere (but who's counting?), and the Beyhive is anxious to hear some new material. On Sunday evening, rumors began circulating online that six new Beyoncé songs had been registered with The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Naturally, Bey devotees began to lose their minds. "OMG, is this really happening?" they asked themselves between heaving sobs. "Could it possibly be true?" Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it. As Jezebel's Julianne Escobedo Shepherd reports, searching for the alleged new tracks' Work IDs in ASCAP's online database returns no results, which could indicate that the titles are fake. Bummer. False alarm, everyone! You can go back to listening to "Feelin' Myself" on repeat now. Sigh. So, when is Beyoncé releasing new music?

In July, Billboard did some investigating and found that several artists have claimed to have worked with Beyoncé on new tunes in 2015, but she has yet to confirm anything herself. No, sadly, the 33-year-old superstar still hasn't announced plans to drop a new single or a new album... but all hope is not lost! Perhaps she just wants to have the element of surprise on her side again. Who knows? Maybe her next LP is just around the corner. Here's what we've learned about Beyoncé's new music so far:

She May Be Premiering A New Music Video Soon

According to Fuse, at the beginning of August, the Birmingham Mail reported that Beyoncé bought a pair of diamond-encrusted stilettos from The House of Borgezie, a high-end jeweler in England. The owner of the company, Chris Shellis, reportedly said he had been told Beyoncé would wear the blinged-out heels in her next music video, "which should be out in the autumn." I caution you to take this story with a grain of salt... but you never know! It could turn out to be true. I'll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed.

A Joint Album With Jay Z Might Be In The Works

"Drunk In Love" producer Detail seemingly confirmed the Beyoncé/Jay Z joint album rumors on the red carpet at the 2015 Grammy Awards in February; however, we haven't heard anything about the project since. The couple wrapped up their wildly successful joint tour in Sept. 2014... doesn't putting out a joint album kind of seem like the next logical step? Hopefully it's coming soon.

Miley Cyrus' Pal Mike Will Made-It Has Done Some New Songs For Her

Billboard reports that Miley Cyrus' buddy, in-demand hip-hop producer Mike Will Made-It, has supposedly done some new songs for Beyoncé. "I got a lot of records on the way with Wiz [Khalifa], Future, Beyoncé..." he casually mentioned at the 2015 BET Awards in June. Talk about name-dropping!

Mike Will has produced some pretty big songs in recent years (Cyrus' "We Can't Stop," Ciara's "Body Party," Rihanna's "Pour It Up," etc.), so I'd like to see him team up with Bey. But again, I caution you to take this info with a grain of salt. Remember: Even if he did send a few tracks Beyoncé's way, there's no guarantee they'll end up on her new album.

But for now, all we can do is wait and hope that new Bey music is coming this way.
