How To Channel Emma Roberts' Gothic Style
Shortly after the release of her all natural images for Aerie's Real campaign, Emma Roberts collaborated with Wonderland Magazine, uploading a sneak peek of the editorial shoot to Instagram Wednesday. The Scream Queens actress posed in a backless, black gown, deeply gazing over her shoulder into the camera lens, almost as if trying to look inside the viewers' soul.
Roberts stares blankly with her lips slightly parted, as if she to say she has a secret, surrounded by over-gown plants and rustic backyard elements. The online magazine brings beauty front and center in this piece; Roberts is an extraordinary vision among ordinary life, so much that I barely took notice of the particularly odd backyard setting. I was captivated by the gorgeous gown.
The fashion industry has expressed nostalgia for the '90s this fall, and it's almost impossible to celebrate the decade's most dominant trends without bringing back Gothic-inspired pieces. Roberts' gown is absolutely breathtaking, mixing darkness with a romantic air accentuated by the white bow loosely tied at the small of her back. My adoration for this gown lies in the minor yet severe details, especially the high collar. Skin is always in, but I find an exposed back to be the perfect balanced of sensual and mysterious.
Check out below how you can incorporate these Gothic elements from Emma Roberts gown in your wardrobe because this season, the fashion industry is all in favor of history repeating itself.
The Bow
Black Long Sleeve Backless Bow Embellished Shirt, $10.50, sheinside.com
If dresses aren't really your style but you fancy the bow detail, pair this open back top with statement bow and a body con, knee-length skirt for a similar look.
The Collar
Black Sleeveless High Collar Dress, $19.99, milanoo.com
With turtlenecks trending this fall, it seems as though high collars are having a moment. If Roberts' high neck has your attention, this number is up your ally.
The Dress
Kalolia Black Deep V Backless Long Sleeve Dress, $35.77, kalolia.com
This piece is a staple for every season. Rest assured you can never go wrong with an LBD, especially one that shows some skin.
The Eyes
Lorac PRO Palette, $42.00, ulta.com
The bow is not the only element that ties this look together. Roberts' shadowed eyes are enticing, and you'll want to get the look. Invest in a palette specifically for smoky eye perfection and you'll use and abuse it over and over again.
