Karlie Kloss Has Klass-Room Style Down

by Renata Certo-Ware

When it comes time to prep for back-to-school, most of us can credit piles and piles of fashion magazines, especially the jam-packed September issues, for autumnal outfit inspiration. Thursday, a familiar face that's graced the pages of countless glossies — and counting — is starting school herself. Thursday marks Karlie Kloss' first day at NYU, where she is enrolled at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study.

This summer was arguably the summer of Kloss — she was a regular on stage at her bestie Taylor Swift's shows, she was a star in the singer's "Bad Blood" music video, and she jet-setted to red carpet events, parties, and baseball games around the world.

But summer isn't endless even for supermodels, so it's off the class for Kloss. The model ditched her requisite slinky dresses and sideboob-baring gowns for a simple, off-duty look (a crisp white shirt, cuffed jeans, and black sandals) to head to class. She opted for a leather tote in lieu of a bookbag as she posed under NYU's purple and white flag, and although she is positively beaming in the photo, she captioned the Instagram pic "I haven't been this nervous in years!"

College campuses are nothing new for the model; she's already completed courses at Harvard Business School. And in June, she ran Kode with Karlie Kloss, a two-week course at the Flatiron School where she gave teenage girls the chance to learn code, an important skill and one that is crucial for making sure women don't fall behind in an industry where we're already the minority.

Plus, with all her experience modeling, I'm sure that early classes will be no prob for the model:

She already has campus style on lock down, so dressing for class should be an easy A for this supermodel-slash-role model.

Here are five times she dominated street-style fashion that she should totally rock again for lectures or grabbing coffee in the quad.

1.) Head To Toe Black

I mean, it is NYC after all. Her take on the model-off-duty uniform is super breezy. Instead of skintight pants and a top, she opted for layers. Plus, that bag seems just right for lugging a few textbooks in style.

2.) All Wrapped Up

Summer is just ending, but if those glossies, and Game of Thrones, have taught us anything, it's that chilly weather is coming. This plaid wrap and a trusty pair of knee-high boots are perfect for transitioning to fall. All that's missing is the PSL.

3.) Keeping It Simple In A Cape

This black-and-white look — with a little hint of gold from the bracelet — is timeless, and impossibly chic. She could easily head from class to a meeting with Ms. Wintour in this.

4.) Looking The Part In A Blazer

Nothing says studious like a boyfriend blazer. This would look great over cuffed jeans, as well.

5.) A Timeless Plaid Skirt

She proves that she was always in style with this timeless school girl ensemble. And, is that one-half of a friendship necklace I see there?

Whatever she wears, she's definitely got the smarts to pass with flying colors (or, neutrals). College will be no sweat!
