Miley Cyrus Has Some Interesting Tour Plans
I'll be honest in saying that I've never really considered myself a Miley Cyrus fan. I was too old to get the whole Hannah Montana thing, and once she went through her "grown up" renaissance, her whole schtick wasn't really my thing. That being said, I'm not completely insane; I have two ears and plenty of common sense, and I happen to recognize a jam when I hear one. That's why songs like "We Can't Stop" and "Adore You" were complete winners for me. Unfortunately, the fun between myself and Miley stops there, and I was completely lost when it came to Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, Cyrus' surprise LP that dropped the night she hosted the MTV VMAs. It was weirder and wilder than any of her previous releases but was exactly what her millions of fans have come to expect. Now she's taking that crazy vibe on the road, as it was announced on Thursday that Cyrus is going on tour with The Flaming Lips.
If you're unfamiliar with the Flaming Lips, they're a great band fronted by a man named Wayne Coyne, who just so happens to be a longtime friend of Cyrus'. The pair have recorded together on numerous occasions, and collaborated on music videos and random social media posts plenty of times, so taking their relationship to the next level by going on tour seems logical. Cyrus revealed the news on The Tonight Show this week, though unfortunately, that's about all the detail she gave.
"I’m going to go on tour later this year, me and the Lips. They’re badass. Yeah, [frontman] Wayne [Coyne]’s back there drunk, falling on the floor, stealing stuff out of your dressing room."
That sounds fun and all, but when is this happening? What venues will they play? Can Cyrus please put "Party in the USA" on the setlist, just for old times' sake? Those are indeed good questions to ask, but one which she didn't reveal the answers to during her interview with Jimmy Fallon, so for now, they remain unanswered. At least we know it's happening, however, and that means something.
Watch Cyrus announce her upcoming tour with the Flaming Lips in the clip below, and try to imagine, if you will, what an absolute night of insanity going to one of those concerts would be, in the best possible way.
