It seems like women are told what they are and are not a lot, but in this video, women talk about what it means to be a woman. This includes both what the women feel they are not, and what they feel like they are, and each response is completely individual and unique. But they're all saying one thing for certain: "I am woman, hear me roar." Which is a very distilled notion of what this video is trying to portray — but the complexity of being a woman is most simply summed up as a woman is a woman, at least as far as I'm concerned. She's not one way or another. She just is. There is no way to be a "proper" woman.
The thing about being a woman is, you get to define what that means to you. Society does not get to tell you what a woman is and is not TO YOU. If you want to cook, if you want to watch porn, if you want to wear all pink or if you want to swear like a pirate, you're entitled to it. Nothing makes you more, or less, of a woman. Here's what some of the women had to say when asked to fill in the blank in, "I'm a woman, but I'm not..."
1. ... Defined By Your Standard Of Beauty
2. ... Going To Be Quiet
3. ... Necessarily A Mother
The video then asks, "In addition to being a woman, what are you?" Here are some of the answers:
1. ... Career Driven
2. ... Horny
3. ... Sporty
