Alaric Has Gone A Little Crazy On 'TVD'

by Kelly Schremph

I think we can all agree that Alaric has never had the best luck when it comes to love. First, there was his wife, Isobel (aka Elena's biological mother) who left him to become a vampire. Then there was Jenna, whose death I still can't talk about to this day. And finally, there was Jo, who died in Alaric's arms on their wedding during last year's season finale. So yeah, this guy has more than earned the right to go to Europe and drink his troubles away — which is exactly what we saw him doing with Damon during The Vampire Diaries Season 7 premiere. However, chugging beers and a variety of liquor bottles isn't the only thing this guy has been up to since we last saw him. Because unless I'm mistaken, I think that Alaric plans on resurrecting Jo by the use of some magical stone.

For starters, let's talk about that stone. Right now, we have no idea what it is or what it can do, however, we do know that it once belonged to Lily Salvatore, who desperately seems to want it back. But unfortunately, that's all of the details we've been given about this thing so far. (Lily didn't want to elaborate too much about it to Enzo since she still doesn't entirely trust where his loyalties lie.) And while Alaric may not know the full extent of what this stone is, I think he does have a general idea and believes that it's powerful enough to bring back the dead. (Think of it as Mystic Falls' version of Harry Potter's resurrection stone.)

But that's not the only reason I think bringing back Jo is Alaric's endgame. There's also the majorly creepy fact that he's been keeping her dead body on ice at the morgue since the day she died. Clearly, he's trying to buy as much time as he can to come up with a way to save her and he thinks the stone is somehow the key to it all. I don't know about you guys, but I'm starting to get genuinely concerned about this plan, and not just because Alaric seems to have gone a little nuts. Anything that involves dark magic like this has to be dangerous. So I'm afraid that in trying to save Jo, Alaric will end up putting his own life at risk instead. I really hope that I'm wrong.
