Nick Offerman Just Booked An Amazing New Job
I don't know about you, but I've been missing Ron Swanson, like, a whole lot. Parks & Recreation was my jam, and Nick Offerman's performance as Ron was a definite highlight (though it's pretty hard to choose since the entire series was brilliant). I know there are DVDs and Hulu and all of that if I get desperate, but it's just not the same. And yes, Offerman has gone on to do plenty of other projects — Children's Hospital, Axe Cop, The Muppets, Fargo, etc. — I need new comedy from him, and it looks like we're going to get it: Offerman will guest star on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 3, which is a dream come true on so many levels.
Unfortunately, Offerman's role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine is only a one-off — so far, he's only in the November 22 episode, which is called "Ava" — but I suppose there's always potential for more. There are basically a million different roles I can imagine him taking on, but the one he's actually got is absolutely perfect: he'll be playing Captain Holt's ex-boyfriend, Frederick. If you're not screaming with excitement already, I'll give you a moment to get it out of your system.
According to Entertainment Weekly, what we know about Offerman's episode actually amounts to very little, but there are a few little tidbits. For one, "Ava" takes place on Thanksgiving Day, and it'll see Captain Holt crossing paths with Frederick around the same time that Terry's wife Sharon is giving birth to their third child. How Frederick is involved in that is anyone's guess, but it's going to be so, so good to find out. I'm preparing to cry with laughter already.
It might be tricky to figure Offerman into a more regular album — or even a recurring one, if he was even interested in that — given that Frederick is Captain Holt's ex and all, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I don't know about you, but I can't think of anything that could possibly make Brooklyn Nine-Nine better than Nick Offerman.
