How To Make Glow-In-The-Dark Jell-O Shots

by Julie Alvin

There are lots of ways to up your game on Halloween, from wearing the best costume to bringing king-size Butterfingers to the BYO-candy party to making glow-in-the-dark Jell-O shots for all your friends. What's that you say? Food/beverages/other things you should ingest should never glow in the dark? FALSE! All culinary logic goes out the window in the face of the most outrageous holiday of the year. So scrap the candy apples or witches brew punch and consider putting together a libation that has an interactive element.

While you might expect that a drink that glows in the dark would come with a recipe list that includes formaldehyde or something equally terrifying, it's actually a lot simpler than that. All you need is Jell-O mix, vodka (duh), tonic water, and a black light — chances are that, if you're at the right party, the last ingredient on that list should already be supplied. Mix together as indicated by the (very spooky) video below, and reassure yourself that, even though you didn't win best costume, you probably won best beverage. AND, if you want to double down on the Halloween-themed debauchery, Bustle's got you covered on the candy corn Jell-O shot front as well. Mind blown.
