'Walking Dead's Ron Wasn't Always In Alexandria

by Lindsey Kupfer

If you think about it, you can’t really blame Jessie's son Ron Anderson on The Walking Dead for not being a fan of Rick Grimes and his crew. After all, Rick killed his father, Pete, and had a pretty obvious crush on Jessie for a while there last season. However, Ron's anger towards the group that is trying to protect the Alexandria Safe-Zone might cost him his life. He’s too careless and has almost died twice since The Walking Dead Season 6 premiere three weeks ago. My bet? Jessie's oldest son won’t make it to the end of the season. Fortunately for the actor who plays Ron on The Walking Dead, Austin Abrams, he won’t be struggling to find work if this role ends.

You may not recognize Abrams' name, unless you’re a fan of John Green's books. For everyone else, here's a quick rundown of Abrams before we get into the details. The 19-year-old has three upcoming movies that are all in post-production, according to his IMDb. We Don’t Belong Here, Medicine Men, and Grass Stains are all set to be released in the upcoming year. Like I said, Abrams he will have no trouble finding new roles if Ron doesn't survive The Walking Dead Season 6. Here's what else you may know him from.

Paper Towns

He may be quiet and sulky on The Walking Dead, but he played Quentin’s very loud and dirty-humored friend Ben in Paper Towns, the latest adaptation of a novel by Green. Ben joins in on the adventure to find Q’s crush Margo Roth Spiegelman when she goes missing, even though his biggest goal through the movie is getting a date for prom.

Gangster Squad

In this movie starring Ryan Gosling, Abrams plays Pete, a shoeshine boy who give Gosling's character information about gangster Mickey Cohen.

The Kings Of Summer

The movie is about three teenage boys who run away and live in the forest together. No, Abrams is not one of the three boys, but plays a character named Aaron alongside a cast that includes Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Megan Mullally, and Mary Lynn Rajskub.

Sacrifice

In 2014, Abrams starred in Sacrifice, playing Dermot Mulroney’s youngest son. The premise involves four boys who go on a hunting trip together and something goes horribly wrong.

Ticking Clock

Back in 2011, he starred alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. in this thriller about a journalist who’s investigating the murder of his girlfriend. Abrams plays an orphaned boy named James Keech.

TV Roles

In 2012 ,he was cast as Todd Cooper on the U.S. version of MTV’s Inbetweeners. Unfortunately, the show didn’t take off like it did in the UK and was canceled after one season. He also guest starred as “The Carver,” an expert hacker, on Silicon Valley and in 2014 was in an episode of Shameless as Henry McNally. And of course, he can be seen every Sunday (for now) on The Walking Dead.
