See Jessica Chastain's Princess Makeover

by Lia Beck

A new entertainer has gotten her Disney makeover. Jessica Chastain poses as Merida from Disney's Brave in the latest "Disney Dream Portrait." The series of actors and musicians posing as Disney characters started in 2007 and is an ongoing ad campaign for Disney theme parks. One redhead Disney princess already got her time in the spotlight when Julianne Moore posed as The Little Mermaid's Ariel, so now it's Chastain and Merida's turn.

The photo series, including the new photo of Chastain, is shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz. The series is surprisingly large with over 20 photos and is full of A-listers including Scarlett Johanson as Cinderella, Jennifer Hudson as Tiana, and the extremely random trio of Tina Fey, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Gisele Bundchen, as Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, and Wendy.

In the Merida photo, Chastain wears a dark green dress and sports Merida's signature red curls while on the back of a horse with a bow and arrow in hand. The slogan for Chastain's Disney ad reads, "Where your destiny awaits." Chastain's Merida look is more closely in line with the original Merida from the movie rather than her makeover, but then again, Chastain and movie Merida are "3D" so maybe that has something to do with it.

At this point most of the classic Disney characters and even the newbies have been covered, so what could be next for the series? I'm thinking there must be some weird combination out there to play Mowgli and Baloo.

Here's a couple more from the series:

Taylor Swift as Rapunzel.

Penelope Cruz and Jeff Bridges as Belle and the prince from Beauty and the Beast.

Olivia Wilde and Alec Baldwin as the evil queen and mirror from Snow White.
