16 Christmas Pop Songs That Totally Sleigh

by Alex Kritselis

Christmas is just around the corner! If you celebrate the holiday, you've probably already started shopping, and you know what that means: hearing Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" in every single department store you enter. Don't get me wrong, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is one of the best Christmas pop songs of all time, but it's overplayed. It's almost as if people don't realize there's a whole world of fantastic Christmas pop songs out there just waiting to be discovered! It's time to give Carey's classic a rest and expand your musical horizons; it's time to update your Christmas pop song playlist.

"All I Want for Christmas Is You" will likely always be the gold standard for Christmas pop songs (unless Katy Perry's "Every Day Is a Holiday" somehow manages to steal the crown), but that doesn't mean it's the only tune you should be playing during get-togethers with family and friends this holiday season. Why not consider a ditty from Destiny's Child? Or a cappella group Pentatonix? Or even TLC? There's no reason to be stuck in a rut! There are so many wonderful options to choose from.

Below are 16 great Christmas pop songs that aren't "All I Want for Christmas Is You":

Kelly Clarkson — "Underneath The Tree"

Kelly Clarkson's entire Christmas album, Wrapped In Red, is amazing.

Justin Bieber — "Mistletoe"

I've gotta hand it to the Biebs: "Mistletoe" is pretty adorable.

Destiny's Child — "8 Days Of Christmas"

A must for every Christmas playlist.

The Crystals — "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"

Classic.

Hurts — "All I Want For Christmas Is New Year's Day"

There's nothing I love more than a Christmas downer!

Jenny Owen Youngs — "Things We Don't Need Anymore"

Another Christmas downer. (It's so pretty, though!)

Jennifer Warnes — "Cold Enough To Snow"

This is last Christmas Downer, I promise.

Whitney Houston — "One Wish (For Christmas)"

Every festive gathering needs a little Whitney.

Ariana Grande — "Santa Tell Me"

It's so catchy!

Imogen Heap — "Just For Now"

Fun fact: Clarkson actually covered "Just for Now" on Wrapped In Red (but Imogen Heap's original version is my favorite).

Glee Cast — "Last Christmas" (Wham! Cover)

OK, this is the last Christmas downer!

Pentatonix — "That's Christmas To Me"

Keeping the a cappella theme going.

Leona Lewis — "One More Sleep"

Christmas can always use more retro flair.

TLC — "Sleigh Ride"

Yes, this is a song that exists.

*NSYNC — "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays"

How could I resist?

Mariah Carey & John Legend — "When Christmas Comes"

I didn't say no more Mariah Carey period, just no more "All I Want for Christmas Is You" (for a little while, anyway).
