Jimmy Designed This Clever J. Crew Accessory

by Marc Cuenco

Let's face it: there's an over-abundance of novelty gifts that come out during the holiday season that I'm already expecting to receive at least one pair of musical socks or a light-up tie in the coming weeks. Thankfully, Jimmy Fallon came up with the J. Crew Pocket Dial, an accessory that's less of a holiday gag gift and more of a "Why didn't I think of that?" innovation. What is the J. Crew Pocket Dial? It's a pocket square that doubles as an iPhone case. When worn, only the fabric of the Pocket Dial is visible, giving the illusion that you're wearing a stylish pocket square. However, pulling out the entire product from your suit pocket reveals it's more practical function.

"I came up with the idea after seeing people around the office with their phone sticking out of their blazer pocket," Fallon said. "I thought, 'How do we make this look better?' 'How do we class it up?' So, I grabbed a hot glue gun and glued pocket squares on top of an iPhone case. I pitched it over to the folks at J. Crew and they said, 'We love it!'" After coming up with the popular Hands High line of sports apparel last month, Fallon is seriously on his way to becoming a fashion mogul.

The limited edition Pocket Dial comes in a brown leather case with blue polka-dotted fabric. The case itself fits the iPhone 6 and 6s (sorry, Android users) and retails for $48.

According to the Tonight Show host, one hundred percent of the proceeds from the J. Crew Pocket Dial will go to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The Kenyan organization serves to protect and preserve African wildlife, most especially endangered species like the elephant. "Not only will you look good, but you'll be doing good," Fallon said.
