The Only Beauty Products You Need When Traveling

by Jessica Thomas

I don't know about you, but I'm about to enter the busiest time of the year (along with basically everyone else). The next month is full of travel and countless trips through airport security. Luckily, I've discovered the most essential beauty products to travel with, and my packing routine is 1000 times smoother because of it.

The next month is full of occasions like holiday and office parties, and I stress enough about my outfit without having to worry about my holiday hair or holiday makeup look. That's why I've narrowed down my list of holiday makeup products to seven essential multitaskers that will take you from an airplane to Christmas party in no time flat. Throw on a little black dress and some sparkly heels, and you'll be good to go.

As much as I'd love to bring my arsenal of hair and beauty products (including my bulky Naked palettes) with me to all my holiday destinations, it's just not practical when I'm doing my best to pack light. A light carryon suitcase means I zip through security and the baggage claim and am on my way to my destination faster. These seven products will help you breeze through security and still look fabulous at every holiday occasion.

1. BB Cream

Rimmel BB Cream Matte, $6.49, target.com

This multitasking product is a godsend for people like me who want something to smooth out their complexion that still provides SPF (and absolute must for pale girls like me).

2. Foolproof Concealer

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer, $24, sephora.com

This concealer/foundation is my favorite for a reason. It effortlessly covers dark spots, pimples and dark circles, but I can still mix it with my BB Cream when I want some extra coverage. The bottle is less than three ounces, perfect for taking through airport security.

3. The Perfect Brow Solution

Benefit Gimme Brow, $24, sephora.com

I've long been a fan of brow mascara. I think it does a great job of shaping brows quickly, which is something I struggle with using other products. This is perfect for traveling.

4. Crease-proof Cream Shadow

Neutrogena Crease Proof Eyeshadow, $8.49, neutrogena.com

I've been using this cream eyeshadow stick in the Constant Copper shade for years. It's the perfect neutral, and the subtle sparkle will be eye-catching at holiday parties.

5. Simple Liquid Liner

Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner, $5.99, target.com

I love how easy to use this drugstore eyeliner is, and it'll make it right through airport security, even though it's technically a liquid.

6. Drugstore Mascara

Maybelline Volum' Express, $5.99, target.com

I don't know about you, but I'd be majorly disappointed if I lost my $40 mascara while traveling home for the holidays. That stuff has a shelf life! Bring a cheap drugstore mascara instead. This is one of my favorites.

7. Shimmery Highlighter

W3ll People Bio Brightener Stick Traveler, $12.50, w3llpeople.com

This cream highlighter is subtle without being overpowering. I put a bit under the arch of my brows and on my cupid's bow, then I lightly tap it on the top of my cheekbones. It adds a subtle highlight to my face and is super low maintenance.

There you have it. These are my go-to favorite beauty products, and I know they'll be yours as well.
